KYC is the process where a casino verifies that you are who you say you are. It originated in banking and financial services as an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirement. Sweepstakes casinos have adopted it because they're paying out real cash prizes — and regulators expect operators distributing prizes to verify recipients.
Without KYC, a casino could be used to launder money, create fake accounts, or bypass geographic restrictions. Every legitimate sweeps casino requires it. If a casino never asks for KYC, that's a red flag — not a feature. Learn more about how to spot scam casinos.
